Yes, Absolutely!
Some us are finding new languages, ML Models, New Cloud Solutions etc etc . These new technologies and solutions are used in almost every industry, Airspace, Transportation, Accounting, Military, Medicine, you name it and some aspect of that industry is using one or other software solution. So, in a way, we are helping these industries.
Reverse is also true. These industries, their problems are impacting IT. We are providing them new innovative solutions to their new age problems. The future of IT is somewhat defined by these problems and what other industries are looking for.
So, Yes, A Software Developer sitting in a corner, writing a code fix or a new ML model does have impact on Future of IT.

That's...an interesting question.
I feel like a lot of engineers - maybe those in my own personal circle - would say No.
I say Yes. The field is very new. 50 years ago it was revolutionary to have a program generate text, images, visuals etc.
I recall reading about one of the foundational architects at Google, who popularized the idea of distributed computing 20 years ago. This idea, obviously, changed the world, even though it's not hard to come up with or to grasp. (As an aside, people point out that a lot of innovation comes from Moore's Law, which says that next-generation computers are always more powerful than the ones before. This was one of the conditions for making distributed computing possible / affordable. So there's a lot of factors going into this.)
I think we're in a phase where we're still figuring out what exactly it is you can do with software. In the JavaScript world alone, people are constantly adding new tools (very good ones, too) into the ecosystem because the field keeps getting more complex. I do think people tend to "accidentally" innovate when they're simply working on a problem. That may actually be the history of the world.
