As an illustrator, making sure to study new things that can aid your art tends to make up a lot of my time drawing. Be it anatomy, perspective, or even landscape studies. Theres also the actual creation process. I get inspiration for my work from shows i enjoy, as well as think would be fun to watch, the biggest inspiration of my current comic being my hero academia and avatar the last airbender, since the magic system has a lot of science behind it, and the power systems in each of those shows is also rooted in science to some degree.
Music can also bring inspiration, as well as seeing what other artists online are doing.
And when you have your inspiration, grabbing references online help a lot with making sure things look right if your drawing something unfamiliar.
All in all, an illustrator is constantly learning new skill, refining skills they have, searching for inspiration, and always sketching out possible idea's for things, as well as bringing those idea's to life.

In a nutshell, the art of illustration is all about focusing on the fine details, as these are the elements that can make or break your artwork. It's important to seek inspiration daily, and platforms like Pinterest or Vecteezy are great places to start. Each day, whenever a new idea sparks in your mind, you have the creative freedom to either capture it in a photograph and transform it into an illustration, or directly sketch it out on your tablet. Remember, every detail counts and your consistent effort will surely pay off in creating a masterpiece.

Well, you need to be good. You have to draw very well. You also need to know the adobe creative suite inside and out if you want to make any serious money. And lastly...set up a network of clients on youtube. That is where all your money will come from.
