Hi Austin,

It seems your talents and interests are mostly in math and science. For both quantum physics and astronomy you would start out with an undergraduate degree in physics. That can be fairly easily combined with computer science. You can either do a double major or major/minor. Or, you could just study physics and see where it takes you. You'll do quite a bit of programming and/or working with scientific software in physics anyway.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your choice.

Hello, Austin !

Many people are undecided about a career choice. We all make that decision at different times in our lives and it's perfectly okay not to know right now. You just need more time and exploration of what you'd really like to dedicate yourself to and it may not be just one thing.

What might help you in deciding would be to enroll in a community college. You will take classes for general education as well as in whatever major you choose for your Associates Degree. If college works for this, than you can continue for a Bachelors Degree at a different college. On most college campuses there are academic counselors as well as Career Services centers, so you will have services at your finger tips as a student.

My next piece of advice would be to start life as a Writer now. A good way to begin would be to register and participate at a website call Writing. You can register and start there at https://www.writing.com/ . Build up an archive of your writing there and off line as well. To find out where to submit your work, read The Writer Magazine for both tips and markets to send your work to. This is definitely something you can do now as well as while you're in college.

I have left a link below for you to read about how to choose a career path.

Your clear career goal may come to you when you least expect it, but for it to happen you will have to start adding experiences in your schedule that will inspire you. I think that attending college and doing some active writing will help you explore what you feel best at. If you do something that you love, you will want to stick with it and it will feel right. Take your time and make small goals toward big goals. Reading about your interests, observing and participation will greatly help you decide.

I hope that this and the links below help you and I wish you all the best !

Hey Austin,
I'm sure if you have talked to many folks our age who have the same struggle as you. The first thing I would think about is what is something you are comfortable doing and you wouldn't mind doing everyday? For me, I am still working retail a year out of my graduation, it's not necessarily what I want to do for the rest of my life but it is something I know how to do and I am comfortable doing.
I will say as a Writer myself, finding jobs that are willing to take in a greenhorn like me with very little professional experience is very difficult so if you are looking into writing jobs, get that portfolio built up and ready. And that leads to my last point, you will unfortunately need to be a bit realistic. Look into jobs that you can match the qualifications for. I know that seems like a no brainer but here I am, looking at all these writing jobs that are looking for things that I do not have. Obviously both of us are young and still have time to figure things out and I do not know what your current living or finical situation is, but just be aware of not just your future aspirations, but also what you need to achieve in the here and now.
Hope this was helpful Austin and I wish you a good luck out there in the spooky scary world.
