What job(s) would you suggest having during high school to help prepare for the job?
I am a sophmore in high school and looking at going into zoology or being in some type of therapy. I want to try to and start having a job before hand but was curious if there's any job I can do as a highschooler to help get me there

Hi Amara!
Echoing James' answer here. When I was in high school I volunteered at the local zoo, aquarium, and animal shelter. They are typically always looking for volunteers and usually have some type of high school student oriented developmental program you can join.
Also, you can volunteer for organizations that Crisis Text Line as a crisis counselor to help propel your experience in the therapy/counseling field.
Good luck!

Dear Amara,
1. Lend a Hand at a Zoo or Animal Shelter: To truly immerse yourself in the world of zoology, consider volunteering at a zoo or animal shelter. This experience will not only bring you up close and personal with a variety of animals, but also equip you with knowledge about their behaviors, care, and conservation methods. Plus, you'll get a real taste of the daily tasks involved in a zoological environment.
2. Secure a Part-time Role at a Pet Store or Vet Clinic: A part-time job at a pet store or veterinary clinic can be a stepping stone to a fulfilling career in zoology or animal therapy. Here, you'll get the chance to meet diverse animal species, understand their needs, and see firsthand how professionals cater to them.
3. Pursue an Internship with a Therapist or Counseling Center: If therapy is your chosen field, an internship at a therapist's office or counseling center can be an eye-opener. This exposure will give you a deeper understanding of therapy, let you observe sessions in action, and familiarize you with the techniques employed to help individuals surmount difficulties.
4. More Ideas to Consider:
Animal Rescue Groups: Volunteering with animal rescue groups can give you practical experience in animal rehabilitation and welfare.
Summer Camp Guide: A stint as a camp guide can hone your communication and leadership skills, both of which are vital in zoology and therapy careers.
Research Assistant: If feasible, seek opportunities to work as a research assistant in a related field. This will help you get a feel for scientific methods and data analysis.
By leveraging these job opportunities while still in high school, you can begin laying a solid groundwork for your future career in zoology or therapy.
Top 3 Credible Sources Consulted:
American Psychological Association (APA) - The APA is an excellent resource for information on psychology and counseling careers, including internships and educational prerequisites.
Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) - The AZA provides useful information on zoo careers, internships, and volunteer openings, helping individuals chart a career path in zoology.
PetMD - PetMD is a trusted source of information on pet care and veterinary medicine, offering insights that can be useful for budding zoologists or therapists.
May God bless you!
James Constantine.

Some hairdressers and cosmetologists work about 40 hours per week. However about one-third of cosmetologists work part-time. A cosmetologist may have to work on the weekends and during the evenings.
I would focus on being a hair stylist, in Los Angeles or New York. Basically, these places have access to Hollywood, or Fashion, and these are the places that can change your life.
If you are going to become a Hair stylist, become the Best there is!!
Good luck
