Thank you for your question. It is more a question on time management. Firstly, find a time management tool that suits you, eg Google Calendar, your phone calendar, ms outlook, etc
Below are my suggestions:
1. Put down the time you need to attend school
2. Assign some time every day for assignment, projects, etc and also some time to do revision on the material covered in class on the day
3. You can then see what time remains for your leisure, pet and family & friends gathering
4. Make sure you have enough time to sleep and have some time to do exercise
5. You may need to assign more time for revision before the assessment/ exam

Hi Rosalyn,

Balancing study with life can be frustrating. But if you gain that skill now, then you will be able to balance life and work when you get older.

I like to write what needs to be done out on a calendar somewhere where I can see it at all times. It helps me do what needs to be done first, second, third, and so on. Or even just make a list.

As a teen, it can be rough. Make sure you block out time for your studies and school work. Like get your work done as soon as you get home, that way you'll have some time in the evening to do other things.

And for the weekend, make sure you get all of your homework done if not most of it Friday night. If you have quite a bit, then finish it Saturday morning. That way you'll have time over the weekend for your pets, friends, and family time.

For studying over the weekend, again block out some time like 20 minutes here, 20 minutes there, that way you can still have your study time and time for everything else.

You can do it, Rosalyn. Just takes time to get into a routine that works best for you.

Whenever I find it challenging to concentrate on my tasks, I seek out a serene location where interruptions are few. Additionally, I keep my mobile phone in a separate room because it often diverts my attention from my work.

have a set schedule for every day in times where you know no one will bother you, turn off your phone and everything else, except maybe light study music. now i'm not a college guy but i taught myself how to sight-read music last year, and i study subjects related to my job just for the heck of it. the most important thing is to stick to a strict schedule without distractions, also make studying and school part of your personality, like if you can impress your friends with your knowledge and be known for the one that gets good grades you'll want to do it more.

Hi Rosalyn,

When there are so many priorities going on in life make sure that the most important to you are put first and accomplished, but recognize that with good organization you can do it all.

One piece of advice is to focus on things during the time of day when it is most convenient. If I were you for example, I would wake up and study or take my dog for a walk because most likely you aren't hanging out with friends and family earlier in the day. Later in the day when you have studied sufficiently for the day it would make sense to hangout with some friends or have dinner with the family.

Have a study plan! Make sure you aren't trying to study the entire book or subject in 1 day. Set out a goal and complete that goal, then allow yourself to move to other life priorities.

Remember that there is always time for the things that matter most. If you find yourself seeming without time, write down each day how you are using each hour of the day and you may find things to eliminate or ways to be more efficient with your time.

Lastly, knock out two birds with 1 stone. An example would be inviting friends to walk your dog with you. Taking a friend with you and your family to an event. Studying with a friend. There are many ways that you can do 2 things at once.
