Hey Jones, niche and technical skills will depend on your career path, so I would be excited to see what you are interested in. In general, work ethic, continuous learning, critical thinking, communication, ability to prioritize and organize are all commons skills/behaviors that are essential.

Teresa’s Answer

Hello Jones - it's great to see that you're focussed on succeeding in whatever you do next. I find that there are a number of aspects that make someone successful in a role. Especially when starting out in the job market, your approach to work and willingness to learn will be key. Your manager will know that there is lots to learn, so that openness to growth and new opportunities is important. If you have a good manager, then they will provide feedback and guidance, but don't hesitate to ask for input proactively as well. It won't be a straight line to success and there may be tough times or projects that didn't go as well as you hoped, but don't let those get you down - it's all part of learning. You should also be aligned with the culture of the company as well as their purpose and goals - if you believe in what you're doing, they you'll be interested and engaged in your work and that is a good foundation for success. Enjoy the journey!

Joanna Rose’s Answer

Hello Jones,

To be successful in your chosen job in the future, it's essential to first understand the specific skills and qualifications required for the role. This might involve obtaining relevant educational credentials or professional certifications that are recognized in the industry. Keeping abreast of industry trends and continually updating your skills through workshops, seminars, or self-study can also be crucial, as many fields evolve rapidly with technological advancements. Networking with professionals in the same field can provide valuable insights and opportunities that enhance your career trajectory. Lastly, developing soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, is equally important as technical abilities in achieving long-term success.
