Hello there! Your questions are truly insightful.
I pursued my education at two remarkable institutions, the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and Wright State University in Ohio. My major was Mass Communication, with a special focus on Public Relations, all within the framework of a comprehensive Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts.
In addition to this, I found myself increasingly drawn to the field of Psychology. The more classes I attended, the more fascinated I became, and it eventually became another focal point of my studies.
The knowledge I gained from these courses has been invaluable in my professional journey. Prior to settling on my major, I took several journalism classes. The skills I acquired from these classes significantly improved my writing abilities and provided me with a deep understanding of how to work effectively with a wide range of companies, regardless of their size. This, I believe, has truly enriched my business acumen.

Thank you for your question. Many students have similar question. Different colleges have different strength on different subjects. So, you have to determine what careers you have interest. The relevant subjects will be the major and minor you can explore.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue. You can focus on the relevant subjects.
5. Explore the college review on these subjects and find out the entry criteria
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Great question, Amelia.
I went to college to be a teacher. I went to Wayne State University in Detroit, MI for my bachelor's degree and my teaching certificate.
Typically when you get a bachelor's degree, you have to take a set of general classes first in areas like English, math, science, and social sciences. Then you start taking classes that align with your major. For me, that was all of the core classes I needed to become a teacher.
As I progressed in my career, I went back to school to get my master's degree in early childhood education, so all the classes focused on this specialized area. I also got an Education Specialist Degree in School Administration, so those classes were specialized too. I earned these degrees from Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, MI.

I graduated from SFSU and started my own catering company. On the side I worked as a delivery driver which turned into a manager, director, senior director and eventually a Vice President of Sales role.
I continued to learn and take classes/workshops along the way. Networking also helped me grow my career!
