1) EDUCATION LEVEL
At minimum, teachers must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, and complete a teacher education program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). However, teachers with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree typically earn more money and the salary advantage grows over time.
2) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Typically, teachers have a “step and lane” schedule when it comes to determining teachers’ salaries. The steps refer to the incremental raises you get year over year. For example, after one year of teaching, you complete step one. Step two is complete after two years of teaching, and so on. Your raise increases with every step. If you have a bachelors degree and are a new teacher you earn $49,500 in Miami, FL. You need to earn three times your rent to qualify for an apartment in Miami. This means you could afford $1,375 in rent. There are no apartments (studio or 1-bedroom) for that low in Miami. It is impossible to live alone and be a teacher in Miami. This is a major problem.
