Hello Denalifff,

This is an amazing chance for you to hone your business skills. Keep an eye out for what people around you need - it could be in your own neighborhood or within your group of friends and family. Maybe they need someone to take care of their dogs, or perhaps they're looking for help with chores like taking out the trash, weeding the garden, or cleaning their homes. Every small task is an opportunity for you to shine, so grab this chance and make the most of it!

When I was young, I walked around and collected cans and bottles for money.

Maybe you have elderly neighbors who can’t take their garbage cans to the curb and would be willing to pay you a few dollars each week. Maybe you can offer to keep an eye on homes in your neighborhood as people are on vacation or away. If you like pets, offering to walk dogs could be simple

Tara’s Answer

Hi Denalifff!

Fantastic question! I agree with what Rash suggested, and I'd also like to add that you can potentially have a very lucrative dog-walking/pet-sitting business--especially if you live in an apartment complex! I used to teach piano lessons to a girl about your age who marketed herself as a pet sitter, and all her neighbors who owned pets hired her to watch their dogs and cats while they were away. She was busy all the time and brought in more money than I was making a week to teach private lessons...lol :)

If you are good with animals, responsible, and reliable, then this is the side-job for you!

Additionally, you can consider babysitting when you are at least 13 years old. You can charge less than your competitors and then break into the market. There are always parents out there who are looking for a reprieve from taking care of their kids :)

I hope you find a way to make some extra money! If all else fails, make a product like lemonade or baked goods and set up shop in front of a community center!

Best of luck to you!

Rachel’s Answer

A lot of people's first jobs came from being scrappy or finding opportunities through friends/family. You could ensure your friends and family know you are willing to work and see if they know of any jobs.

Another idea is yard work in your neighbor hood. A lot of people start there.
