Well, you can start with your network. You can ask your family, friends, neighbors, etc. if they have any open positions at their jobs. Also, can look on job boards but first outline for yourself, beside your financial predicament, what job do you feel comfortable doing. You don’t want your employer to pick up on your focus on your financial condition but passion for the job. Look for jobs you feel you have passion for and you believe you can fulfill the job responsibilities. So you want to put together a resume/cover letter (highlight your achievements, goals, and accomplishments) tailored to fulfilling the job responsibilitiesIf you have a hobby or something your good or passionate about, you can start off as a freelancer. If you have a gift of graphics or like to rake lawns, you can advertise your services.

Hello Brooklynn!
How to Get a Job as a Broke Teenager
Step 1: Identify Your Skills and Interests Before you start looking for a job, it’s essential to identify what skills you have and what interests you. Since you mentioned art and math, consider how these can be applied in potential job opportunities. For example, if you’re good at art, you might look for jobs related to graphic design or tutoring younger students in math.
Step 2: Explore Job Options Suitable for Teens There are various job options available for teenagers that can fit around your school schedule. Some common jobs include:
Retail Positions: Many stores hire teenagers for part-time roles such as cashiers or stock clerks.
Food Service: Restaurants often need servers, hosts, or kitchen staff.
Tutoring: If you’re proficient in subjects like math, consider offering tutoring services to younger students.
Freelancing: If you have artistic skills, platforms like Fiverr or Etsy allow you to sell your artwork or offer design services.
Step 3: Create a Resume Even if you don’t have much work experience, creating a resume is important. Include any volunteer work, school projects, or relevant skills. Highlight your strengths in art and math as they can be appealing to potential employers.
Step 4: Search for Jobs You can search for jobs through various channels:
Online Job Boards: Websites like Indeed or Snagajob list part-time positions suitable for teens.
Local Businesses: Visit local shops and restaurants; many may have “Help Wanted” signs posted.
Networking: Talk to friends and family about job openings they might know of.
Step 5: Apply Discreetly If you’re concerned about your parents finding out about your job search, consider applying online where possible. You can also use your phone or computer when they’re not around. Be honest with potential employers about your availability due to school commitments.
Step 6: Prepare for Interviews If you get called for an interview, prepare by practicing common interview questions. Be ready to discuss why you want the job and how your skills make you a good fit.
Step 7: Manage Your Time Wisely Once you secure a job, balancing work with school and other activities is crucial. Create a schedule that allows time for homework and leisure while ensuring that work does not interfere with your education.
Conclusion Getting a job as a broke teenager involves identifying your skills, exploring suitable job options, creating a resume, searching discreetly for jobs, preparing for interviews, and managing your time effectively. By following these steps diligently while keeping your priorities straight regarding schoolwork and personal interests, you’ll be able to earn money without compromising on what matters most to you.
