Career advice is not only for students who are trying to choose a career path. As you progress in your career, the opportunity space changes based on your experience, so it is important to periodically seek out career guidance to help you identify opportunities that align with the experience you have gained. Career guidance can help you answer questions such as whether to remain at your current company or seek opportunities elsewhere, whether to move into a management role vs staying in an individual contributor role, or even whether to embark on a career that is very different from your current career. Understanding the career paths that are open to you is also important as you deal with changes in your life such as marriage, children, extended family, a desire to live somewhere else, or a desire to focus more on passions such as hobbies, religious activities, volunteering.

Hi Hilary - it's important to ask for advice because it can be overwhelming to decide what opportunities are out there and that fit well with me and my aspirations. Maybe what I think I would like to do may require to travel abroad, or maybe I don't have the necessary qualifications, or maybe it does not really turn out to be what I wanted to do.
Talking with someone for advice can help you understand your strengths, weaknesses, and interests, and provide you with a picture of the career paths available. They can also help you draft your CV, and potentially also prepare you for a job interview, how you should articulate what you have achieved so far and in which field you would like to work, based on your skills and interests.
It's important to make a career choice that motivates you and that you know you can manage based on the skills you have. Career advisors will listen to what you would like and will be able to assist you. Ultimately, you will make that decision, but you will do with informed background.
Good luck!
