I suggest exploring volunteer opportunities in your field of interest. Speaking with professionals currently working in that area would also provide valuable insight into the role.

You will never be sure until you are.
That is the scary exciting point of life. Tons of people are in their 50s and 60s not knowing what they wanna do and that is okay. It is about enjoying the journey along the way.
My advice is try everything. This will increase your knowledge in many different areas and make you more employable for the next job. Do what you think you might potentially enjoy until you don't enjoy it then move onto the next one.

To be sure of your career choices, start by assessing your skills, interests, and values. Reflect on what excites you and what you’re naturally good at. Take career assessments, talk to mentors, and explore job shadowing or internships to gain hands-on experience in different fields. Setting short-term goals and trying various roles can help you figure out what fits best.
If considering a career change, research the new field thoroughly, take relevant courses, and network with professionals in that area. Be patient, as career transitions often require time, but trust in the process of exploration and growth.

It’s completely normal to feel unsure about your career choices, especially at your age. Figuring out what you want to do takes time, and you don’t have to have everything locked in right now. It’s all about exploring what excites you and what you’re naturally good at. Trying out different activities, talking to people in different fields, or even getting involved in part-time work or internships can help give you a clearer picture of what might fit.
If you’re thinking about changing careers later on, just know that’s something a lot of people go through. You might start in one direction, but as you grow and learn more about yourself, your interests can change. The important thing is to pay attention to why you feel drawn to a new field. Is it because your current path no longer excites you, or because there’s something in that new area that really sparks your passion? Once you understand that, making a decision becomes a lot easier.
And remember, you don’t have to rush. Many people switch careers later on, and that’s totally fine. It’s about finding something that feels right for you, even if that takes time. What’s been on your mind lately in terms of career? Are you leaning toward any specific direction, or just feeling unsure about the whole thing?

Hello Yawo,
Good question! Choosing the right career or making a change can feel overwhelming, but it’s absolutely okay to feel unsure—that’s part of the process! Here are some encouraging tips to help you navigate your career journey with confidence:
1. Start with Self-Reflection
- Think about your passions, strengths, and values. What excites you? What feels meaningful? Pay attention to the activities you lose track of time doing.
- Consider your skills—both what you excel at now and what you’d love to learn.
2. Explore and Experiment
- Try things out: Volunteer, intern, or take a short course in areas that interest you. Real-life experiences can clarify whether something feels right.
- Talk to others: Seek advice from professionals in fields you’re curious about. Ask about their day-to-day, challenges, and rewards.
3. Embrace Flexibility
- You don’t have to have it all figured out. It’s okay to pivot. Many successful people change paths multiple times before finding their true calling.
- Think of your career as a journey, not a destination. Each step teaches you something valuable.
4. Set Small Goals
- Break your big dreams into smaller, achievable steps. This helps you gain momentum and builds your confidence.
- Celebrate your progress, no matter how small—it all counts.
5. Don’t Be Afraid to Start Over
- Changing careers can be intimidating, but it’s never too late to make a change if something no longer aligns with your goals or values.
- Remember, growth often comes from stepping out of your comfort zone.
6. Listen to Yourself
- It’s great to seek advice, but ultimately, you’re the one living your life. Trust your instincts and stay true to what feels right for you.
7. Be Kind to Yourself
- It’s okay to feel uncertain or even scared. Those feelings mean you’re growing and exploring new possibilities.
- Focus on progress, not perfection.
Your career doesn’t define your worth, and it’s okay to take your time figuring things out. Life’s an adventure—allow yourself the freedom to explore, grow, and adapt along the way. You’ve got this!
Best wishes!

Rebecca’s Answer
Thank you for your question. The most important is to find out what careers you have interest.
Below are my suggestions:
1. Think about what you have interest, eg your hobbies, favourite subjects, etc and identify the related careers
Eg if you like music, would you like to be a musician, singer, musical artist, music composer, music producer, etc
If you have interest in maths, would you like to be an accountant, engineer, banker, financial analyst, maths teacher, etc
2. Find out more on these careers and determine what you have interest
3. Speak to someone who are working in these careers. Seek guidance from your mentor, school career counselor, your parents, etc
4. Shortlist 1-2 careers you would like to pursue
5. Explore the entry criteria of relevant subjects in colleges
Hope this helps! Good luck!
May Almighty God bless you!
