Trina’s Answer

I would recommend you check your local area for a Trade School that offers Mechanics courses to allow you to get certified, certifications allow you opportunity and more salary.

Carlos’s Answer

You have a very specific ambition, and while it is your ambition, I would recommend to take a step back and think of this at a higher level yet with more detail.

Separating the mechanic part, why VIVA? Businesses open\close daily so what is it so special about that place that makes you want to be there. If the answer is the location, then why not look into other dealers in the same area? If the answer is the brand, then look for competitors that sell the same brand... the point is understand why you want to do something first. By the way, the question maybe trivial to many, but to me it is mission critical. Personally i have not moved out of Austin not for the lack of opportunities but rather because grandma's live here in Austin, and I treasure family more than money.

Regarding the mechanic part of this, you have to have the skills so you can become a hirable resource which means go to trade school..etc

While you do this, it would be great if you get to know the people at the dealership. It pays to have quick conversations to the people that work there. Something as simple as.. hey my name is Joe.. I like this place, and what you do. Can you spare a few minutes to talk about it?

While in the conversation you can say... i really would like to be a mechanic here... what does it take to be one?

Carlos recommends the following next steps:

Understand the boundaries of your plan.. is it location? is it brand? is it benefits? is it people?
Get formal skills
Network with people that work there but understand they are likely busy so approach must be subtle
