Hello Jasmine
Pray first! I will pray with you. Pray about decision making (Romans 12:1-2).
Thinking of what you have considered. Always do what you love then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Hi there! It's completely normal to feel indecisive about what to study in college, especially as a junior in high school. Have you considered exploring different culinary and art programs to get a better idea of what interests you most? You could also speak with a guidance counselor or career advisor for additional insights and resources. Remember, it's okay to take some time to explore your options before making a decision.

I hope this helps!!!

You could go to a community college for culinary arts to test the waters. Apply for FASFA if you qualify to help with financial aid.

Answer some questions for yourself first and formost.
Do you love to cook?
Do you enjoy feeding people?
Are you an artist ?
Do you like physically intense activities?
Do you enjoy science?
If you answered yes to most of these question then you are definitly setting yourself up for success.
The good thing about having a culinary degree or certification is that no matter where you are in the world or what is going on in your life you will always be able to find a job. Also you will never go hungry. Working in the resturaunt industry is awsome that way. There is always left over food that would feed a small army , nightly.
Another really important thing to think about is if you want a family. If your aspire to be married and children in your 20's then you may want to choose anotger path. It is long hours ,nights and weekends. For example: I worked 71 hours last week! Its not impossible but extremley hard juggling family and work. With that said the money is pretty great. As a women in the industry you can not be delicate. You hazed and harrassed on the regular but when you find your place those people are family. Drugs and alcohol are always in the mix and if your not ok with your fry cook or sous chef comming in with a hangover or if your intolerant to bad language it will be hard to find that place. Bottom line : Do you have that passion inside for the Culinary Arts and do you love to please people ? That will getvyou through it all! One last thing if you do side to go that way do yourself a humongous favor unless your family has a lot of money use your Pell Grant and get certified in culinary arts and hospitality. It won't cost you anything in fact you'll get a check every 9 weeks I believe something like that of what you haven't used of it so it can help you with food or gas or whatever. You don't need to go to a four-year school and get a degree but if you do have the money then do it the more knowledge the better the more classically trains you are the better position you'll get right out of school. Just don't forget it's a brigade system and you we'll start at the bottom pretty much no matter where you gone to school. New York is an amazing place to find a wonderful chef to work under. I live in Florida and in a rural area and the opportunity is scarce but I still do pretty well. I hope that this information helped you and good luck!

Elizabeth recommends the following next steps:

Spend time in the food world, through every avenue possible.

Do you have a community college that offers culinary? In NJ, some will partner up with a vocational school program.

Also, see if there are any community adult classes locally that you can attend. Even if they cost a few bucks, it's a lot less than enrolling in a college program then hating it.
