What can I do to increase the chances of being an architect?
I’m a middle school student who has been interested in architecture since I was a little kid because of a video game, Minecraft. I’ve began to wonder if that’s what I actually want to do when I’m older. What are the cons and pros to being an architect?
Anyone who is or used to be an architect, can you please tell me what led you to wanting that job.

What a great career choice.
The best part is that you're surrounded by examples daily. There is so much lititure available to explore as well. Take in your surroundings and explore your own ideas , write often your thoughts and ideas.

Hi, Julian. Although I am not an architect, I have background a field with which architects regularly interact, civil engineering. So I do have some familiarity with the field.
At your current stage of education, if you're interested in architecture, you'll want to focus on courses in math, science, art, and computer-aided drafting (if it is offered at your school). You'll also want to take time to research exactly what an architect does. While architects have been involved in designing large structures like Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Sydney Opera House in Australia, and the Superdome here in the United States, they also design shopping malls, restaurants, hospitals, schools, and homes. It's a profession with a lot of possibilities and rewards. It also has its stress like any other job, including dealing with customers who may not know what they want or who constantly want to change things.
I hope that whatever field you decide to work in, whether it's architecture or something else, you have success!
