How hard is it to learn not to come up to fast to the surface when scuba diving?

I want to be an Underwater Welder, how hard was it to learn not to come up to fast to the surface when you’re welding underwater? It’s something i want to learn now before I become an underwater welder

Thank you comment icon training is key and required. listening to your supervisor and teachers as well as patience is the way I learnt when I did a couple of recreational dives. Bob Robert Kohn

Jacob’s Answer

Two different things, scuba diving and commercial diving, you don’t swim up when you are commercial diving most the time you are in a LARS which is a cage and they bring you up, or you climb up your umbilical, when scuba diving you don’t swim up you inflate your bcd they will teach while you are getting certified, look more into commercial diving before you go to school underwater welding is a very small part of the job

John’s Answer

Hi, Good Day to you, hope this finds you well. Not sure how to answer this question but here are a few web sites to explore… Good luck with your career choice and research.

Divers Institute of Technology has been training divers for commercial diving careers since 1968.

US Navy Seals... Enough said, could not think of any one else to help with training divers.

In addition to Seals there are the US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team; {forerunner of the Seals}. And the US Navy Construction Battalion "Seabee’s Underwater Construction Teams (UCT)" you could ask for help and info on diving.

And if anyone should ask who gave you or who sent you to this site. Tell them a retired special ops boat Nuclear Senior Chief Machinist Mate retired after 21 yrs service did.

Oh yes there are probably a few dive class instructors in your local area who could answer your question too.

Good luck and enjoy the research. John

John recommends the following next steps:

Contact the Divers Institute of Technology at their web site online.
Some fun web site areas to research about diving... US Navy Seal Museum; Navy EOD Association
