Culinary Arts can be two things; a career or a way of life. What matters is how passionate you are about the craft. Everyone started somewhere and most had no previous experience or exposure to cooking but once they got started they never looked back. To go bavk to you question, culinary arts can be financially rewarding once you find your niche either as a worker or employer. You also have a platform to create sensory experiences for customers while you get paid for it.

Hello Evjna, thats a very interesting question that has many way to be responded:
You can start by watching videos that you enjoy about easy recipes, beginning from specific to general.
Also, within your community, you can approach restaurants or food markets with the help of your parents or guardians and ask people about the origin of the foods they process or ancient recipes they base their products on for sale.
Another way is through books—I'm currently reviewing a very interesting book about the chemistry of food combined with the author's culture. The book is called "Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat," in which the author explains culinary techniques that can help you understand cooking as very intriguing chemical processes.
Last but not least, there's a very important aspect of cooking... practice, practice, and more practice. Try to familiarize yourself with flavors, spices, different fruits and vegetables, both cold and hot food, always being cautious and with the help of your parents.
I wish you a beautiful journey through the beauty of the culinary life, and may you find people who share similar tastes to yours. Good luck!

Besides cooking at home when growing up, I didnt know much of the actual culinary world. Going to school gave me the foundation to begin my career. I am now a part time adjunct culinary teacher as well and I always do recommend to the students to work somewhere in restaurants, bakeries, etc before or while going to school to be sure its what you want as a career because it does take a lot of work. But I have never regretted doing it and after 25 years I still love it.

As for a life goal, the world of culinary arts is immensely rewarding. It is one that can be mastered but never truly finished. There are so many ingredients, techniques, designs, flavors, aromas, concepts, etc. It is never-ending the possibilities one can achieve through creativity and passion with food. Creating dishes at a higher-than-average level is an artform. Hence "Culinary Arts". Many chefs will use their menus or dishes to tell a story. Through different flavors/ingredients/plating/techniques you can express an array of emotions, stimulate the senses, create a lasting dining experience/memory, and if nothing else provide vital nourishment as we all have to eat right? :)
One of the best aspects of Culinary exploration is that it can take you down many different paths. Cooking, baking, foraging, fishing/sushi, gardening, Restaurant Management, sommelier *[after you're of legal drinking age of course :) ]*etc... While some can master one of these aspects, great "Chefs" have a solid understanding or working knowledge of all of these. Start wherever feels most interesting and fun to you and see where that leads you. You never really know your destination in life until you get there, so enjoy the ride along the way <3
It should be no surprise that cooking well or even exceptionally takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Become ok with failing. It will make you a better cook. Learn from your mistakes and keep persevering. This will translate over to other areas in your life. You will learn to take more risks and when those pay off it will be so rewarding. Experiment, have fun, learn from others, and share your dishes with those around you. Like another Chef mentioned earlier, it's not just a career it's a way of life.
ABC - Always Be Cooking either on the stove or in your head. Conceptualizing recipes is where it begins. Tasting a new ingredient and pondering what it will pair well with. Taste taste taste, knife/equipment safety, and attention to detail will get you going in the right direction.
You can also find inspiration almost anywhere! Who knows maybe one day your cooking may inspire someone else to give it a shot.
Good luck in your journey wherever that may lead. Take care and learn as much as you can in whatever it is that you do.
Hope this answer found you well.
