Hello Mayleah - It's fantastic that you're interested in pursuing a career in architecture! I'm trying to understand your question fully. Are you wondering if it's possible to thrive as an architect while maintaining a laid-back lifestyle? If so, I must tell you that it's a challenging path. I don't mean to be harsh, but the reality is that most professions, including architecture, require a certain level of dedication and commitment. This is especially true in the US, where the work culture is often demanding.
Becoming an architect requires a bachelor's degree in architecture, which in itself demands a significant amount of time and effort. The job is not a walk in the park either. My advice to you would be to shift your perspective and focus on how you can achieve success through dedication and hard work.
There's an old saying, "There's no substitute for hard work," and it's absolutely true. You might hear stories of people who became wealthy without much effort, or advice like "Work smart, not hard." However, the reality is that the only surefire way to succeed without hard work is by winning the lottery or hitting the jackpot in Vegas.
So prepare yourself, Mayleah. The journey ahead is long and challenging. But remember, with determination and a desire to succeed, you can not only do well but also excel. With a bit of luck and some smart decisions, you can achieve great things.
On the flip side, if you prefer a more laid-back lifestyle, it might be more difficult to achieve success, unless you come into a large inheritance or are incredibly lucky. But whatever path you choose, remember that your attitude and work ethic will play a significant role in your success.

Hello Mayleah,
Both of the preceding comments are spot on. As an architect, I maintain a relaxed attitude while taking my work very seriously. Being self-employed gives me the flexibility to manage my own time, but I'm always aware that my clients are counting on me to provide prompt solutions. I'm committed to delivering top-notch service to my clients, and every unique project receives the attention it merits.
The journey to becoming an architect is lengthy, and it takes time to reach a point where you can selectively choose your clients and manage your workload effectively. Your journey starts with education, usually a five-year Bachelor of Architecture program at the least. Some individuals further their studies with a Master of Architecture, which could potentially open doors to teaching.
After graduation, a three-year internship is mandatory before you're eligible to sit for the licensing exam to become a certified architect. This license will give you more control over your career path. However, passing the exam on the first attempt is not guaranteed, with only a 50% success rate. But don't worry, you can retake any sections you didn't pass initially.
Remember, architecture isn't a laid-back profession. Clients expect timely, professional service and high-quality results. Best of luck with your decision.

Architectural engineering was used to build the Great Wall of China, Egyptian pyramids and so many wonderful and useful designs in our world but laid-back is not a word or term I suspect is often used in this line of work which carries a enormous amount of responsibility and technical brilliance. Challenging and rewarding as a career but requires all of your attention for success and little time to chill.
