It is around 1-2 hours training online. After passing the exam, a certificate will be issued. Just 10 questions about food safety hazards, hand washing, cooking temperatures, pest management, food defense and food fraud.

Check with your local county health department. They should offer classes and or a website. You should be able to take the class online and the exam. Each state and county can be a little different.
You can also go to the National Restaurant Association website and do ServeSafe. It is more expensive. But it is valid in most states and is good for three years. If you are going to go out of state to school this can be a better option. https://www.servsafe.com/access/ss/catalog/productlist/55
