When you were a student, did you do anything outside of school to build skills or get knowledge that has helped your career?
Besides accumulating knowledge, I always pay attention on building a habit to do things differntly from others but better (not just being different).

Developing technologies which can make Internet faster and more powerful.

First you need to know yourself well, strong side and weak side, then pick the career which can maximize your potential.
How did you start building your network?
Pick a topic on which you are really passionate and continue working on it, its will be like a magnet to attract people likewise to you gradually. To connect other people, you just need to participate in various getherings and talk to people having similar interests.
What is the most useful piece of career advice you got as a student, and who gave it to you?
Be innovative, don't be scared by the status quo.
