What is the biggest challenge you had to overcome to get to where you are now professionally? How did you overcome it?

One of the biggest challenges for me to overcome was getting my college degree while working full-time. It was extremely challenging but also rewarding because I didn't go into a lot of debt while going through school. I was also able to get a degree in something I enjoyed and used in my daily work. The best part is that Verizon provided tuition assistance so I did not have to shoulder the full cost. It may have taken me a little longer to get my degree but it was definitely worth it.

How did you pick your career? Did you know all along?

My career honestly developed over the 25 years I have been with Verizon. When I started, I was in a sales support position. I moved into technical support, then to network engineering, then to finance, and am now in real estate and work to improve energy efficiency in our buildings across the country. I can look back and see how every job along the way led to the next, and how each helped shape me for the future. It has been a wonderful journey!
