My best advice for you is to gain as much knowledge as possible, such as cook books, real cooking shows PBS has some good ones, family members grandma is always the best. Practice makes perfect, right down your recipes and fine tune them. I would see if I could get a part time job in the food service industry, such as restaurants, hospitals, food trucks etc., where ever you can gain experience. Most of all you can not be affraid of hard work and some failure. Once you get that experience I suggest you look up an organization called APPCA they can get you started in the right direction. Remember its hard work and determination.

Start watching cooking shows and experimenting with recipes. Use family and friends as your taste testers. If someone you know is a good cook ask them to show you some things. That is step 1.
If you know someone with a restaurant see if your can get a job there to work in the kitchen. Ask about internship opportunities. Talk to the career center and ROP opportunities at your high school. They may be able to help with that.
Many community colleges have culinary programs. This will be the least expensive way for you to get an education in the arts. There are specific culinary arts schools but they are much more expensive and don't always offer anything more.
You may also be able to take 1-2 of the culinary classes while in high school through dual credit or concurrent enrollment (different states call it different things). Talk to your school counselor about it. Also check your local parks and recreation course offerings. They sometimes have culinary classes.
