Richard J (Rich)’s Answer

I am not a chef. But, as with any profession the first thing you need is a passion. If you have a passion to be an Italian Food Chef - then you will enjoy the journey so much more. There are 3 things I will say. 1) Education - if you are able to go to a culinary school that has an emphasis on Italian cooking that will help put you on a path. 2) Experience - as soon as you have an opportunity to work in a good Italian kitchen - not matter how menial the work - get the experience in the kitchen and work your way up - most do not start at the top - you start at the bottom and show you are willing to do anything to learn and grow. 3) Practice - I do watch a lot of cooking shows - and what I get from most of the great goods is that they started at a young age cooking, they experimented, and they created their own style only by cooking - and cooking a lot. Be willing to put in the work, get the experience, get formally educated, and grow to meet you passion. My thoughts.

First you need to understand what Italian good is really. Look for authenticity they do not eat any of the food we consider “Italian”. Look up where you are wanting to learn from. Learn about Italy.
