Linda’s Career Stories
Did anyone ever oppose your career plans when you were young or push you in a direction you did not want to go?
I was born in a very tiny town on the bayou's of deep south Louisiana. My father a wealthy, dominate, powerful and very traditional man wanted only boys I was his second girl, my brother was born a year later, even so his keen focus on my future fueled a lasting tug of war for I knew very young I was an Interior Designer and artist. My father intended for me to marry young and well, give him grandson's as a housewife and stay at home mom. In my protest and declarations of my plans I received no support and was told I would never amounts to anything if I persisted. Undaunted I followed my dream and worked very hard to be the best at my choose future and career. After college I worked for a design firm and as it turned out my father was one of my first clients and always referred to me for answers and advice for all things design. He was a very determined adversary but I never gave up and succeeded by will and tanasnity which I have not regretted with a long and happy life spent, so far.
