How do you get referrals from other doctors or peers as a LCP/counselor/art therapist ?
Hello! This is a follow up question, but for background I am enrolling in a Maters program that will allow me to graduate with credentials to be certified as an LCP with a focus in art therapy. I would love to one day open private practice as well to offer art therapy. I’m curious how you establish and maintain referrals from other doctors or contacts who will suggest your practice to clients. Specifically, how are these connections made? What does this partnership entail? Why would others be incentivized to recommend your practice? What are they getting out of it? Thank you in advance for any guidance! I really hope to understand this amazing career!

What was your experience getting your 1st art therapy job?
Art therapists: (especially those in NJ) what was getting your first job like? Did you use art in your practice after graduation? Was it hard to find a job? I am switching careers after a decade in fashion design.

What education is required to become an art or music therapist? What does a typical day look like in these fields?
I was wondering what education is required to become a music or art therapist. Is there a scholarship available for either? Also, would it be possible to combine both into one experience and can you only do one at a time? I would like to do both at the same time because I like both art and music and find it interesting that I can use things that I love to help other people.

Hi Everyone. I'm an INFP, majored in Finance 10 years ago but found out I'm not that into finance career. I tried to find a job, but only those related with finance would be more likely hire me or I am qualified to. For example, clerk/cashier/biller/financial analyst. I don't have any art experience, but I really want to start working on something is art related. I don't know what suits me more. I have once had a thought, how about being a ceramics? how about being a art therapist? Apparently, I need to job that could support my life cost. What is your advice for me?

Art Teacher / Art Therapist
Hello, I’m a junior about to graduate this September and I am a little lost on exactly how to go about my college / career. Currently, I’ve narrowed down my career choices to either an Art Teacher or an Art Therapist. (With ambitious plans on eventually doing both, not simultaneously of course.) Planning on going to community college for 2 years to get my associates, but after that I would prefer to transfer to a college somewhere northeast-ish (NY, NJ, PA, etc.) for my bachelors & masters. I don’t have a specific question to ask, but any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
