Is it possible for a 10-year-old to write a show?
Hello! I'm 13, going on 14, and my little sibling (any pronouns) is 10. They're very ambitious and determined to write an indie animated show. In fact, he's already written a seven-minute script for the pilot episode, all in a proper screenwriting format. She's obviously determined to do this and is willing to take up as much work as possible to make it happen. Since they're only ten, I'm here to help them write and direct it. I'm old enough to use casting websites to help him get people to work on it. I'm just a little worried that they might be shooting a little too high too early. I've told them to do a lot of thinking and planning before deciding to make a series at this age, they have, and their answer is yes. Should I ask her to wait until she's a little older and more certain she can finish this project or should I help him to achieve it now? He's already doing directing, writing, and some art and possibly the music, so we just need a few more people.
Industry vs Freelancing vs Indie directing?
Is freelancing the same as Indie directing? What separates these three? What are some pros and cons of all three? How do I succeed in each? And how do I switch from one to the other, such as switching from Industry directing to Freelancing? Will I have more control over the movie if I choose to freelance? Google has not helped me one bit.
How important is college in my situation?
I'm going to try to keep this post short.... movies are my life. I've wanted to make films ever since I was a little kid. I can't see myself doing anything else. I'm currently a freshman at a community college. I'm currently building up my credit and saving up to pay for school. My parents can't pay for it, or cosign a loan for me. I'm the oldest of 9 kids, and my dad works a blue-collar job. They also said if they could pay for my school, they wouldn't because I'm a Film major. They don't believe in my dream. I have to do it all on my own-i kind of like it that way anyway. I've been working nonstop trying to save up, but I'm still not even close. Is college even necessary to work in the film industry? My parents keep telling me I will fail without a college degree. Academics aren't something I'm really good at. I'm a creative person. My problem is that I'm from a rural town in pennsylvania. There aren't many opportunities to work in film (or study it) in Pa. I'm planning on moving to New York City to work. I'm prepared to work odd jobs until I get my big break. NYC colleges are really expensive, and I don't know what to do. Can I succeed with an associate's degree? Or film certificate? Does anyone have any advice? I don't know who to ask. Do I need a degree to be successful? I have a hard time putting my ego aside. I don't want to see everyone else get a degree, and and go to college, but I can't. Any advice? #film #Film #film-school #movie-production #actor #college-major #college-advice #college-bound #associates-degree #cinematography #independent-films
How hard is it to get one of your own projects up and running in the Film industry ?
I'm considering going into Film/screenwriting in College in 2018-9, and I was wondering how hard it is to produce your own feature film from the ground up, as an independent production. #film #independent-films #screenwriting
How can I as a young writer get my work published or acknowledged?
I am a writer at heart, and I'm equally passionate about writing as I am about journalism, and audio/recording engineering. However, writing is a passion that I never want to lose sight of because this is something I'm really good and I have so much potential to grow in this field of work. I would also like to have some of my work turned into a movie script. I really enjoy the connection of writing and film, to see how writing can be translated into a visual. #writing #film #creative #books #screenwriting #independent-films
